Very good
Warren Beatty accomplished something quite remarkable. Telling a Russian/American story as a director, writer and actor. I usually avoid films where one person takes on so much responsibility, but he did a stellar job.
Being a political film, it will always divide opinion, as that is the nature of politics. They say one man can change the world. However, in John Reed's case, he was not born for it. He was an artist, not a politician.
In saying that, this film is extremely well put together, the scenes flow nicely. All the political dialogues and scenes were really well executed. The Russians also shined in this film. They were quite compelling to watch. Filming in so many countries is no mean feat. It's beautifully filmed.
It was also nice to hear stories from the witnesses.
Warren Beatty was good in his role. However, Diane Keaton was outstanding in her role. She really shined in this film.
Being a period piece is always a plus, and based on real history, makes this a must watch for anyone interested in history.
