Any credible ideas why Gene Hackman isn't interviewed for the 25th Anniversary DVD release of Reds? Most of the other major living actors, as well as other major players having to do with the movie's success, are interviewed for the documentary in the special features. Why no Gene Hackman?
From what I understand, Hackman had "retired" from the acting business in the late 1970's. He appeared in Reds only as a favor to WB, and was not billed per his request. Given his attitude, I can see why he may not want to participate in the DVD release.

He did in fact "retire" for a couple of years in the late 1970's. He stated this in A&E's biography episode about his life. His retirement was short lived, obviously, and he resumed his career in the early 1980's.

I have to admit that I was disappointed that Keaton wasn't in the special features, but Gene Hackman was only in was scene. And it wasn't a huge one at that. He was just loud (not that he was bad).
