What happened to the dog?

When Diane Keaton's character is invaded by Feds wanting to know where her husband is for an arrest of sedition, what happens to the poor dog? The dog barks then is silent. Anyone know?

The dog was probably shipped off to Russia for conspiring with the Reeds.

I wanted a serious, legitimate answer.

holy hell the movie is over 3 hours long and focuses on an important part of history and all you care about is the stupid dog??? Why did you even bother watching the film?

The people you idolize wouldn't like you.

The OP has a right to ask a question and express his opinion without you replying and attacking him. If you don't know the answer to his question, move along without the sarcasm. Try posting your own thoughts about THE FILM and not the poster.

If the dog is so irrelevant, why was it included in the movie?

I was wondering the same thing. Did they kill the dog?

reply

The Russians ate him in the famines. They ate all the dogs, then they started to eat each other. The 1917 Revolution was an evil joke, and this film is just as obsolete.

Seriously, I don't know. I seriously don't know why this movie was ever made. Communists screwed up the labor movement in the US. They certainly didn't help it.

Warren Beatty was easily the best thing in the film. His performance is wonderful, regardless of what you think of the subject matter.

Years later, I'm seeing your question and going to attempt to answer it seriously, because in spite of all of the sarcasm directed at you, I've often wondered the same thing. I watched the movie again tonight and this is what I observed:

I believe that there is a really quick shot of the dog lying still in the yard before the Feds break in. If you blink, you could miss it. Since the dog is now silent and had been barking previously (and doesn't come when she calls his name numerous times,) my assumption is that one of the Feds killed him to shut him up so that they could "surprise" Jack Reed ~~ who isn't even there. If I had been Louise, I would have been livid once I discovered that they had silenced my dog.

I also think they killed the poor thing.
