Doctrow's reaction to the musical

Does anyone know what Doctrow thought of the musical? He didn't seem to like any of the movies that were made of his books I was wondering if he liked the musical.

He liked the musical - which was probably owing to how collaborative the effort was...

Ahrens, Flaherty, Galati and McNally knew that Doctorow disliked past adaptations of his novel, so satisfying him with the stage musical was at the forefront of their minds.

Of course he took exception with some changes, but overall, he was very pleased.
