The passing of E.L. Doctorow 1931 to 2015.

Read Ragtime when I was in college and became a fan. Since then I have added 'Book of Daniel', 'Billy Bathgate', 'Loon Lake', 'Waterworks' 'Welcome to Hard Times' and I went to see his off-Broadway play 'Drinks Before Dinner'.

He was a major writer and a compelling scholar on the art of writing fiction.

My favorite writer and also a brilliant political theorist. After I finished reading the book Ragtime, I thought I had witnessed a literary miracle. I can't help but wonder what Robert Altman's version of the movie was like. I bet it was marvelous.
