this movie is awesome
What's with the negative comments? This is a *beep* classic film... full of energy and surprises.

shareI agree.....I fail to understand some of the garbage they release on DVD, yet gems like this, no matter how under the radar they are, always get bypassed.
shareI agree, just saw this again recently and man, the memories it brought back! This is a great old time capsule, going to get it on DVD very soon!
shareThis movie has always gotten terrible reviews, but New Years Eve is coming so I ordered it out of morbid curiosity. Thanks again to the poster who gave away the ending without writing the word SPOILER first. Thanks.

I second that. It's on Fearnet, and I came here to see what people thought of it; not to find out the ending.
Thanks.
i think that it might be getting a DVD release soon!!!!!! I HOPE!!!!!!!!!!
shareThat was pretty discourteous of the poster who revealed the ending without warning! I watch this movie every now and then. First saw it when I was a young girl. Now I am a man. [joke] For real, I'm a grown woman now and I still love this movie. I don't believe it was the father's corpse in the ambulance at the end though...wasn't it the ambulance driver? Sure, the movie has predictable scenes of any 80's slasher, but we watch it for the fun of it. I hated the mother's character from the beginning, because of how she ignored her poor son. She was neglecting him, and it made me think right away that the son was the killer (which of course was disproved early on in the film), or that he would end up snapping and pulling a Norman Bates on his mommy. All in all, this film is entertaining.
If you can't beat them, arrange to have them beaten
LOVE the poster art!
shareme too, i actually have the orignial poster displayed proudly on my wall.
shareI have the poster as well--framed and displayed right after Christmas (when I have Christmas-themed movie posters up) through January. I am such a movie poster junkie, but there's something extra cool about the art in this one. LOVE it!

The New Year's Evil poster art is like a hybrid of the Escape from Alcatraz and A Clockwork Orange poster art; I admit it did get my attention though. Watching this movie for the first time right now.
shareOh my stars... I never thought about it before, but you are so right about the poster art. The calendar and streamers make it unique and appropriate to the theme of the film though. I still dig it despite it being a rip-off of those other posters.
shareI agree. I just love this early eighties horror flick! The added bonus is that the film is a time capsule of late seventies/early eighties Hollywood. Really great flick!
If you love and support Michael Jackson 100%, copy & paste this into your signature. We love MJ!
I like this movie too :) Very cheesy and fun, not to mention that creepy mask!
shareI was shocked – SHOCKED – at how good this was. I can't say I'm a huge fan of slashers, but this film was very suspenseful, very creepy, and it totally rocked. 8/10 stars from me.
shareYes! I have no idea why it has some negative reviews among horror fans. This is pure 1980 slasher fun!
Awesome for sure.
that opening song really sticks in your head. i rewound twice just to listen to it. and i love the voice synthesizer the killer used. that was pretty original, at the time.
shareAre you high?
