did this movie turn the phrase "mommie dearest" into a negative connotation?
It seems like whenever someone uses this phrase nowadays, it tends to almost always be sarcastic in nature. The thing you'd say to your mom when you find her being too controlling. I don't think I've ever heard it used in a sincere way in my lifetime.
Was it this movie that turned it into a snide, passive aggressive phrase? Or was it already perceived as such prior its release?
