Is this the movie where...

I think I have seen this movie, about 19 years ago, but I am not sure. Hopefully someone can confirm based on the following 2 scenes that I vividly remember:

-- It starts with a woman thrown out a window and landing on the roof of a car (it happens in slow motion and you actually see the woman hit the roof)?

-- The main character is washing his face at his bathroom sink and there is a bright flash of light, then he looks down and the sink is overflowing and he lost like 15 minutes of time? From what I remember, the bright flash of light is created by some device and it causes people to go into a catatonic state for several minutes.

Anyway, I've been trying for months to remember the title of the movie that has the above scenes in it. I was trying to go to sleep tonight, and for some reason, it suddenly popped into my head that Albert Finney might have played the main character in the movie I am thinking about. I looked up the movies Albert Finney has performed in, and Looker struck a cord in me. Unfortunately, the movie synopsis does not mention the scenes above and the description is not enough to confirm my feeling. And, the movie is not on DVD, so I can't rent it from NetFlix. Any help would be appreciated.

Ketwlyd.

This is the movie that you were thinking of. Those particular scenes standout to me as well. One comedic moment that stands out for me also is when a camera man is filming an aerobics workout he zooms in on a woman's breasts and the following is said.

"Treat her as if she was your sister"
Cameraman "She is my sister"

Thought that was a funny moment.

Thanks for the confirmation. Now I just have to track down the VHS tape, so I can watch it again. Too bad it is not out on DVD...

Yeah, right this is it! ;)
Albert Finney was on the cover of original release in 80's over the TV, i remember those, and the scenes of Susan Dey that gets her body scanned for someting, i wonder why there is not any DVD release :/

I think the movie you are thinking of with the woman falling out the window to the roof of the car in slow motion is in the begining of Lethal Weapon. Everything else is Looker.

If you're with Cox Communications (your local cable provider), and you have the High Definition package, it's been playing on HD-2 this month. Although I think it was only for a week. That channel has been pretty good in dragging up obscure movies from the early 80's. I recently watched "The Hand" starring Michael Caine on that channel as well. I'm always scanning the guide in advance for other camp trash classics. Most of the movies on that channel are of the "one-star" (out of four) varietal, but that's just the lame-o opinion of TV Guide.

Actually, one of the greatest female stunts ever filmed [IMHO]is in this movie. A gal is thrown from a high rise apartment and falls onto a Volkswagen, I believe. It's in slow motion and as she lands on her back, the windows in the car explode and she slides slowly off the roof of the car. She did this in lingerie too! This alone makes the movie worth watching.

Thats what I too remember about the movie. The blackouts people got, the holograms. I too tried to find this on Netflix today, in fact, and it is not available.

The scene with the girl hitting the car is the second death in Looker. It occurs about 18 minutes into the film. It appears that the stuntwoman took a fall of 4-6 feet on to the top of a specially constructed car: the windows are rigged to shatter and the top of the car dents to absorb the shock. A very realistic effect.

The fall at the beginning of Lethal Weapon on to the top of a car is actually a fall on to a blue-colored airbag. Blue screen techniques were used to project the image of the car on to the bag. If you watch closely, you will notice that the scene is cut just as the girl contacts the airbag/car. The cut is to a side angle showing the same stuff from Looker: denting roof and shattering windows.
