Opened against Halloween II

I bet it got buried.

reply

I don't know the figures, but I do know "Halloween II" was number 1 the weekend it opened

God only knows what position "Looker" was

reply

Looker was a high rotation movie on Spotlight(later changed to Showtime) cable channel in the early '80s.

reply

yea I remember seeing it constantly on cable in the early 80's, seemed like it was on 5 times a day. My memories of cable circa '82-83 are filled with Looker and Barry Devorzon's music.
That and Poltergeist

reply

And Mommy Dearest, that was on three times a day for like 5 straight years.

The weekend figures were:

1 Halloween II $7,676,836 (NEW)
2 The French Lieutenant's Woman $1,400,000
3 Arthur Warner Bros. $1,254,295
4 Only When I Laugh $1,203,428
5 Looker $1,142,186 (NEW)

Ouch.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

What's most amusing is that Looker clearly inspired Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

reply

That's funny, because while watching Looker for the first time tonight, I was reminded of Halloween III. No specific reasons, just a lot of little vague ones.

!

reply

It's funny because the model who gets killed in the opening was actually DUBBED by Ana Alicia, who was Nurse Janet Marshall in Halloween II.

"...Every minute passing I wanna hold you. Every minute gone is too long a time."

And Tawny Moyer was in both Looker and Halloween II!

I was just about to point this out when I saw the title of this thread lol. It was nice seeing her in something other than Halloween II, even if her role here was small.

reply

@ HeartMonger.... No, whats REALLY funny is that Tawny Moyer is in BOTH "Looker" and "Halloween 2" (1981). She plays nurse Jill in Halloween 2 that gets picked up by the scalpel stuck in her back by Michael Myers and her shoe falls off while shes in the air. In "Looker" she plays the tormented housewife in the commercial that some weird gold painted Mr. Clean gives her some kitchen cleaner and she gets all happy from it. So she was in two movies that came out the same day.

Clearly the difference in box office returns can be directly related to Pamela Susan Shoop's vs Susan Dey's nude scenes.

Is it ever influenced, right down to the synthesizer music. I was constantly reminded of Carpenter's Halloween III only to suddenly learn, Looker was released long before.
