The tall red haired guy that was the funny guy - what or why did the writer let him live? Why did they have him stay at the bar? I never understood this

I think it's great that his character just kind of disappears.

He was a cool cat. It's nice to picture him boozed up blissfully unaware of the shit show going on at camp. Maybe he even made it with that bartender!

The audience was expecting him to get killed, so it was a pleasant surprise that he lived.
