About Tod's fight with the Bear

Recently, I realized that that fight is similar to the duel between Sherlock Holmes and Professor James Moriarty in "The Final Problem", as these two fights have several similarities:

1. Both fights take place at a waterfall.
2. The villian's role in the story is minor, but his appearance and attitude is menacing enough to be considered an arch-enemy to the hero.
3. Both fights end with the hero and villian falling into the waterfall while locked in mortal combat. While it appears that both perished, the hero would eventually emerge alive.
