Favourite character
Mine is Dinky because I love how he nearly always blames Boomer for everything. I agree with you that maybe he and Boomer wern't really necessary, but do you realise that without them, the film would only be about the same time as Dumbo. Talking of which, have you noticed that this is the 24th animated feature whereas Dumbo is the 4th and was released in 1941 whereas this film was released in 1981. So that's 2 coincidences between those 2 films, they are 40 years and 20 films apart.
