Great opening sequence with the reference to "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and Blofeld's drop down the smokestack. Wonderful chemistry with James and Melina. Toned down silliness and gadgetry and a believable scenario. Didn't miss "M" at all. Love the "drive in the country" sequence with the Citreon, too. Straigh up one of the best of the franchise.

Well, it was a lot better than Moonraker. That film exceeded what I like to call the Bond Movie Silliness Index.
I believe that Bond fans understand that with these movies one has to be willing to suspend belief a little to enjoy the movie, but sometimes the producers go too far.
Case in point: Denise Richards in The World Is Not Enough. Now, a female physicist can be beautiful, and have a silly name, but working in such a hazardous place in cut-off shorts and a too small T-shirt? That dog won't hunt.
Long story short (too late, Maria!), FYEO was a nice return to a Bond movie that doesn't insult the audience's intelligence.
Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night.
I feel Moonraker was great up until the space launch. After that, it became rather silly. But until that point, it was just as good as Spy Who Loved Me.
