Dull middle

Film starts great (albeit too many shots of helicopters flying around) and ends great, but the middle feels like it’s treading water.

I know it’s 40 years old but some tension or inventive action was needed. Dude’s got a ticking clock in his neck, get him into some real trouble instead of having him plod around deserted streets.

I didn’t care much for Harry Dean Stanton and his Doris either, Snake didn’t trust them and they only really became likeable allies at the end.

Was hoping for more from this Carpenter classic. I found Assault on Precinct 13 much more engaging and that was several years earlier.

the middle is the calm before storm!!

Well it was a bit too calm, mildly boring in fact, and it made up the bulk of the film.

The setup with the neck bombs is so strong, as is the ending, that the film more than stays afloat. But yeah, that mid-section is hard work, even with Barbeau’s naturals bouncing around.

that mid-section is hard work,

i understand your opinion. i like mid section. it give me breather from mayhem of first part, but yes maybe drag to some!

even with Barbeau’s naturals bouncing around.

yes john know how to shoot his wife's hooters. excellent jobs by legend carpenter!!!

reply

Haha! I had no idea she was Carpenter’s broad.

She was like a trashy Sigourney Weaver with less talent but way, way more tit.

Carpenter’s like ‘Hey guys, hope you’re enjoying this serious grimy future noir action movie… now check out my new wife’s huge naturals’
