Im thinking of buying this movie,
it's a long time since I've seen and
I know you can get it on Blu Ray.

I saw this movie for the first time a few years ago , when I was about 25 years old. I think its great, superb, masterpiece if you want.
A lot of people say that most people like these old movies out of nostalgia risen out of the fact that they saw the movie back in the 80's and it was something novel back then that surprised them and the feeling stuck with them .
But in my case is so obviously not true, I saw A LOT of movies before I saw this, and even my first viewing I didnt know really know what to make of it, because I had previosly seen EFLA . With later viewings it grew very much on me.
This is a effin real movie. REAL, not some CGI crapfest, REAL effin sets, good story, good acting, good cinematography , good soundtrack, good editing, entertaining , etc .

It hasn't aged well and I don't care, it's still awesome for what it is. Buy it!

Also, this was not a 'prediction' of the future by Carpenter. Therefore talk of him 'getting it wrong' is silly. It's just a what if scenario.
Pretty much the same for all movie visions of the future. No one is being asked to take it seriously.
True, and yet, NYC is starting to look like a high-security prison!
