What we know today about demonology

Okay, for starters, this was a science fiction horror hokum. But in light of today's great interest in paranormal research, we know several things.

The movie tried to spin some kind of scientific bent on capturing an entity that was not visible. There was a deliberate attempt to stay away from any kind of religious or supernatural explanation. But there was no invisible extraterrestrial being harassing Carla Moran.

In light of today's paranormal research, Carla Moran was the victim of a demonic attack, from a malevolent being that is indigenous to earth and not outer space.

What the movie did portray well, if boringly long-drawn out was the science team's attempt to first determine there was absolutely no psychological basis to Carla Moran's problem.

It's impossible not to go into a religious interpretation. The Roman Catholic Church wholeheartedly embraces modern psychology and psychiatry to predetermine whether there an alleged possessed person is not actually suffering from some kind of psychosis. In a great sense, this has tremendously helped religious authorities from separating away the 99% who just need psychiatric care. But ahhh, there is the remaining 1% for which when all is said and done, clearly demonstrate demonic possession.

In today's definitions of demonology, Carla Moran was suffering from, 'demonic oppression'. This is when a demonic presence has zeroed in on a particular individual to harass and inflict terror, oppression, and anything that might weaken the victim even further. The victim is typically not possessed but the demonic presence is already insinuated into the person in some way. This can lead to the last step of, demonic possession.

Whether a victim of demonic oppression, or worse, demonic possession, a victim is in need of specifically and specially trained religious ministry able to confront and force out the demon or demons. Even if the scientists could discern a demonic presence attached to Carla Moran, there was little else they could do and attempting to cryogenically seal in the entity showed us that demons cannot be captured or restrained like wild beasts.

By the time a person is being tormented by demonic oppression or possessed, the only way to go is to contact religious authorities for help. But first, the person has to be fully psychiatrically evaluated.

Typical dumb ass comment toward someone attempting to have a rational and serious conversation.

"Mr. Treehorn treats objects like women, man."

reply

How the hell do you have a rational conversation about demonology?

reply

cflr, I agree with you 100%! 

Colonel Angus: Well thank you Miss Anabelle. And if I overstay my welcome, just tap me on the head.

True and thanks pal I hate those LOL comments anyway that's was a serious beaver was it not i mean got to love the 70,s

what we know(!!) about demonology is almost as much as we know about the orcs indiginous to Mordor and their relationship with the nymphomaniac unicorns who thrive in the surrounding forests.

what the F have you been smoking?? (or are you just possessed by an incredibly dumb demon right now)

I say skip the priests & jump straight to a psych ward, ASAP.

Well said, Mr_Granot! 

Well said jeffyoung1.... Do not pay any attention to the moronic posts after your main post. I am not a Demonologist, but I have also been studying Demonology heavily for many, many years. If people only knew the truth of the things that do exist they wouldn't be so closed minded and ridiculous.

Fear.

When people are afraid of taking something seriously they mock. It's universally the way to show the lack thereof. Unfortunately it's also overcompensating and transparently so... brings to mind Hamlet's mother whren Hamlet asks her what she thinks of the queen in " the play within the play" she says...

"Methinks the lady doth protest too much"

It's not a rational way to deal with the subject matter. Rational means you examine the evidence without making any presumptions, you do not agree what is possible and not possible before examining the evidence.

People that claim to have a scientific understanding of our universe have simply replaced the religion of deism, with the religion of secularism. Neither is science.

dolores_medina, you don't seem to apply that same standard to Jeff, who presumes a lot of things based on "demonology", which isn't science either.

True Dat! 😱

You can try to break us but, you only make us stronger.

jeffyoung1, I find this post rather stimulating. When you look at the aspects of Demonic Oppression in terms of The Exorcist, it's exactly what Pazuzu does to Reagan. He torments (ie bed shaking) and probably molests her, therefor weakening her and then made his move to possess her. It probably is, that Carla Moran was strong enough to keep the Entity far enough at bay that possession couldn't ensue. It's an interesting theory.

Close your eyes, give me your hand...

I believe there is common ground for science and religion in proving the existence of angelic and demonic entities. I go back thousands of years to the early days of human civilization when demonic manifestations began to be recorded. Belief in the existence of these creatures predates Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and continues today.

We start on these ancient to modern day witness accounts of some kind of physical activity attributed to unseen, invisible entities, despite whether benign, benevolent, or malign intention. We add the assurance by God and Jesus that these creatures exist.

At the end of the day, angels and demons are creatures created by God. God did not create demons as demons, He created them as angels from which a number of these beings rejected the Creator and devolved into malevolent, parasitic entities.

These creatures are not carbon-based but constructed along some kind of cohesive energy matrix structure that is the intelligence, will, personality, and sentience of the creature. It exists along the unseen portion of the light spectrum. But does that mean it doesn't exist because it cannot be seen by human eyes? We know that radio waves and x-rays exists but we cannot see it.

So in the end science is not forced to confront the unscientific, some kind of hocus pocus, imaginary, figment of human flawed imagination or errors of perception. These creatures exist and we will be able to detect them. One idea of mine is to try ultra-violet detection means. One man may have inadvertently accomplished that using an ultra-violet camera in southern California at his business rental building, the size of a warehouse. He was trying to determine whether intruders were breaking into his business at night. Then when security cameras kept detecting moving objects, he tried an ultra-violet camera. His business is technology oriented. Whenever an object moved, a small, violet-purplish, sparking cloud would manifest over it on the ultra-violet camera. There's still not enough conclusive scientific evidence but this would seem to help confirm what many scientific and religious opinions concur, that angelic and demonic creatures exist, but as some kind of unknown energy. There is no devil with horns, a goatee, red skin, forked tail, carrying a trident spear. The ultra-violet camera recorded exactly what the creature or creatures look like, amorphous energy clouds that reveal no physical structure that our carbon-based world is familiar with.
