Looking for the Best DVD to purchase

I've been getting increasingly interested in Italian horror and Grindhouse movies in general lately and I've been considering The Beyond or whatever you prefer to call it as my next purchase. I'm American and mostly see American movies so I'm looking for the version of the movie that would be most accessible to me. If I like it I'll probably be willing to view other versions of it, but right now I'd like to see the one that would be most accessible to a mainstream viewer. This may be irrelevant if they're all fairly similar, but I know with stuff like this sometimes the different releases are significantly different. I'd appreciate a link to an amazon page to purchase so I don't get confused.

Yeah, this is irrelevant. All the versions you're going to find are the same. Even the ones that claim it's the "Seven Doors of Death" cut are just the same version with a different video title superimposed. Italian horror films aren't exactly the "Seven Samurai" so you shouldn't have a problem geting into them. Grindhouse Releasing has done the latest "Beyond" DVD, but if the transfer isn't important, go with anything you can find.

Your cheapest best is the Anchor Bay disc, but the Grindhouse disc includes a new opening from Catriona MacColl, and a fantastic mini poster.

Boil up some Mountain Dew, it's gonna be a long night.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. Currently watching the Thing so I'm all jacked up about watching a new horror movie.

Someone mentioned the grindhouse version with the mini poster inside. The version I bought was the Blue Underground print. It also came with the mini poster. I bought mine online from best buy, and it's the best print of the movie I’ve seen. There is a difference between the Seven Doors of Death Version and this one. The Seven Doors version is about 8 minutes shorter. I'd recommend either the Grindhouse version or the Blue Underground version. Though, seeing as you posted this months ago, you probably already own a copy.

UPDATE: the version I have is the grindhouse release. I was mixing this up with the Suspiria DVD I just recently bought. Also the 7 doors version I'm fairly certain is edited, like I said, it's 8min shorter.

Blue Underground never released this movie in the states, Anchor Bay did. Seven Doors of Death is also the same version, the 8 missing minutes is just from the pal to ntsc conversion, so nothing is missing.

I got the limited metal tin edition from anchor bay (i believe its still available on amazon) it has a cool booklet, about 6 or 7 mini posters, audio commentary and i believe a short documentary. As far as the transfer it looks quite nice

I have that set too and it's fantastic. Arrow is releasing the region free Blu-Ray in January.

I already have too many DVD versions, so I'm gonna buy the Blu-Ray. Arrow does wonderful releases./

It would be interesting seeing the spiders on Blu-Ray.

The very best 'version', format, and or studio for this Italian Horror Classic would be more than likely Anchor Bay's Region 1 DVD, also they came out with a Collectible "Tin" set that includes a bunch of material that features the production of "The Beyond". The regular DVD is fairly affordable right at this moment, yet the "Tin Set" is much more pricier. Hope this helps somewhat!
