shareIt's a question I actually have been discussing with a friend of mine over the last couple of days.
I think that, in the end, CGI was clearly the better choice. But I'm also quite curious about how the film would've turned out if Go Motion had been used. I wish we could at least see two or three finished scenes with stop-motion dinos.
There might be one way to get an idea of the results. It was Phil Tippett who had been hired to do the stop-motion. He made a short film called Prehistoric Beast in 1984 that featured Go Motion dinos. You can watch it on YouTube:

What we have to try to envision is dinos like that mixed with real environments, live actors, and animatronics.
It looks good for a documentary, but yeah CGI was the better route.
