DVD

This is one of the best dragon movies ever made, so why is it not out on DVD yet?

reply

Aha, but it will now be available on DVD from 21st October 2003 (Region 1). Although there will be original video aspect ratio and sound, there are no special features whatsoever!!

And so it came to pass that Dragonslayer was released on DVD...

...And nobody ordered any!!!!!
I think Best Buy was the only store that ordered copies, and even then, not ALL of them did...
...And the ones that did order it only ordered 5!!!!

I got my copy, but had to drive 20 miles!
Every store in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex ordered Spongebob Squarepants and Hulk though. What has the world come to.

I went to a certain electronics store on my hunt for the movie and upon asking the "kid" (for lack of a better term) if they had Dragonslayer he said, "Yeah, we usually carry that one, we must be out right now."
Huh? This was 2 days after it's release!
They usually have it? How?
:)

Ok, that's my rant.

Believe it or not one copy arrived in Belgrade,Serbia and Montenegro.Having read so much about the film I was really curious what was all about. So,when a friend of mine went to America for bussiness,I asked him to buy me the DVD.Now that I have seen it,I think that it is interesting and enjoyable.

I got my copy of the DVD, and for some reason they didn't clean up the old film very well. My VHS copy of the movie, bought in the early 80s, showcases the pioneering special effects in a manner that look much more realistic. Look closely at the DVD during any superimposed shots. The dragon trying to set Ulrich on fire during the final battle sequence, for example. They look bad, and I know more work could have been put in cleaning up this film for a DVD release.

On the whole, just one minor disappointment for me, one that didn't and wouldn't have stopped me at all from getting the DVD.
