Soundtrack - Alex North -- Varese Sarabande... maybe??

I think the movie itself is really cool. I am a fan of action-packed movie scores, particulary in the vein of Alex North.

If possible, has anyone run up on info for the soundtrack album either on CD? Does anyone know that maybe Varese Sarabande will carry it [since it's the home of movie soundtracks]

It's been a while since I tried to look for it. About 15 years ago, I looked into a Record Collectible Digest -- at the library -- and it was under the Disney Records label or some sort. If I could understand it correctly, the asking price was close to $200 (at that time)!! [No kidding, I looked that one up and saw the digits]. I have never known of any record that can come up with a price that expensive.

I also know that on the 'Net, there was a soundtrak for Dragonslayer that was under an organization {maybe its name was SGL... or something like that}, but it is now out of print and not in circulation.

I know I sound old-fashioned, but I really hope to come across some information on it if possible...

The original Alex North Sountrack is/was a very limited print run firstly of
vinyl LP and then only 2000 CD's (selling for $35-$50 at the time) and is
therefore very collectable, hence the price tag you have seen previously.
You may see this soundtrack appear on ebay from time to time, but be prepared
to pay.

I managed to find an 'Alex North - At the Movies' CD that had 5 Dragonslayer
tracks on a couple of years ago, Seems to be still available - see link below.
This CD is however regular price at the moment....

(see http://www.moviemusic.com/CD/alexnorthmovies.html)...

Tracks:

9. Dragonslayer: Main Title
10 Dragonslayer: Valerian & Galen's Romance
11. Dragonslayer: Ulrich's Death/Mourning
12. Dragonslayer: Destroy That Amulet/Ulrich Explodes/Vermithrax's Plunge
13. Dragonslayer: The White House/Into the Sunset

Thanks, Fedora...

I have been looking for that CD on Amazon, but as I recall, it is "out of print". So, hopefully if I can scrap some change, I will get it.

I was hoping beyond hope that Varese Sarabonde will try to revamp the soundtrack as they have done with previous titles that Alex North have composed say...

Cleopatra
2001 A Space Odyssey {rejected score by Kubrick's masterpiece - and hints of some of the pieces he used by Dragonslayer}
Viza Zapata
...and many others

Again, I appreciate the output!

Cheerz!
