UK R2 DVD re-edited/cut

Scenes I saw cut/missing on first viewing today:

*Beware some spoilers*

During the first maiden sacrifice, a couple of scenes are cut or re-edited. She no longer spits onto the manacles to help release herself.

Following the death of Princess Elsbeth, the scenes with the young dragons devouring her body are shortened. Specifically the foot biting scene is missing.

Suprisingly the scene where Brother Jacobus is incinerated by Vermithrax seems uncut, as you see the priest within the flames. This has always been cut from TV showings.

I guess this is due to the 'PG' certificate in the UK this film has been given - Even though this is the first time ever this movie has received a Home Video release in the UK - It has taken 23 years !!!

Even with this in mind, I would advise getting hold of the Paramount R1 DVD for the full version of the film.

or you could search for it on the gnutella network, the full version is there & the
person who ripped it did a fine job cause its perfect

one of the best dragon movies ever,Vermitrax looks very real & veeery nasty.I saw this film when it first came out(I was 5 at the time) & they did a great job bringing it on DVD (at last)

As a real fan of the movie myself, I already have the Paramount R1 and the Buena Vista French R2 already - and yes they all have subtle differences:)

This was just a comparison for the strictly UK DVD enthusiast - I wonder if there are any of them ....

I saw it 6 times in the cinema myself in 1981 - still in my top 3 movies.

It has been on VHS before in the UK. Early Disney Home Video. I own one.

I believe that the only Video release in the UK has been on *rental* video
by Disney in the early '80's. Never a Home Video release. Is it possible
that you have an early rental release ?

I may have overlooked one of the scenes, but the UK R2 is definately listed
as cut on one scene:

I still recommend the Paramount Region 1 release.
