Anyone know what film this is?

It was an animated movie, which was on sometime in the 80s. There's a young dragon, and he's travelling with a knight. At one point, they're in a forest at night, and these animals start making a loud chittering noise. The knight says that the noise sends you insane. He and the dragon both start to feel the effects, and are about to fight each other, when a wolf comes hurtling out of nowhere and attacks the animals, driving them off. He reveals to them (he can talk) that he was killed by someone, and a wizard dressed in blue revived him to seek revenge. He's not really alive, but if he completes his task, his life will be restored. I want to see it, in full, but i don't have a clue what it was called. Anyone know what i'm talking about?
