when I first saw the movie, I remember being shocked that the princess was killed

AND THEN THE BABY DRAGON TORE HER FOOT CLEAN OFF!

I'm watching this for the first time and...

I'VE BEEN IN AWE FOR 10 WHOLE MINUTES. The Princess NEVER dies in these kinds of situations. I thought maybe she was unconscious, but THEN HER FOOT IS BIT OFF AND I FLIPPED OUT. This is the most ballsy screenplay EVER!

But this wasn't really THAT big of a surprise. It isn't like the Princess had been developed into a main character or anything. What would have been surprising is if the girl who pretended to be a boy at the film's start had been the one to die. Now THAT would have been "ballsy". Instead, it was a side character who just happened to be a princess...nothing really "ballsy' about it at all. She was completely unimportant to the outcome.

You have to admit the foot looked a little tasty.

No?

Jeez.

I remember watching this when I was about 12 on TV, and yeah, I couldn't believe the princess actually died!

OMG Vermithrax! Can I have your autograph? You were so hot in this film.

The funny thing about the baby dragons...they were the only characters I felt bad for when they died. Vermithrax also evoked a sad feeling from me when it saw its children's corpses. What does this say about the actors in the film? It's a pretty good movie, but the impressive dragon really is the one and only thing that would keep me coming back to it.
