I've been trying to find video of it(got hit by a wave of nostalgia), but so far I've been unsuccessful.
Does anyone remember what I'm talking about? It generally would have been on early '80's rental tapes of Disney movies, if I remember correctly.
Two shots I remember clearly were one of the closeups of the dragon breathing fire, and a shot of a disc being loaded into the player(view from in front).
You're probably talking about one of the ancient "Walt Disney and You" home video promos. Google the name, there's several variations on You Tube and elsewhere around the net.

I remember the old "Walt Disney and You" video promo, and I never did see any footage of the Paramount/Disney presentations of Popeye or Dragonslayer included in that promo.
Although I did find a foreign trailer for Popeye recently on Youtube that had the logo for Paramount and a logo that I had never ever seen for Walt Disney Productions (utilizing the famous Mickey Mouse ears) that made me go "WOW!" when I saw it.
