DVD Editions

There are a ton now, but are they all just repackagings?

I know Warner distributes Paramount titles now so that accounts for one changeover. I have the Paramount Widescreen Collection with the cover that looks more like the original poster art (it's a lot better than the new cover that makes the movie look like direct to video junk).

Just wondering if this ever got a re-do or any extras, but I'm assuming not.

Can't tell since I only own one edition of the film.. it has the rather cartoony cover shown here on imdb.

I remember how much I adored the theatrical poster when the movie came out back in 81.. It's so much cooler than any of the other posters out there. I wonder why they don't use this one for the DVD box... this is the one I'm talking about:

That's quite cool looking too! It seems that companies try to make movies seem more "modern" and so don't like using some of that kind of art anymore.

This is what my DVD looks like.

"No hotlinking please"? Wow.. that's a very.. err.. minimalistic poster indeed.. ;)

I'm guessing you mean this cover:

?

Looks like a cheap, direct-to-DVD thing indeed. The Asylum's "Dragonkiller", perhaps? ;)

Come to think of it, the only thing that's kind of a letdown with the one I posted is the fact that it gives away the dragon's design completely. The long wait before we finally get to see Vermithrax in all his glory was one of the best bits about this flick IMO.

I can't see your link either, actually! Let me try mine again.

This time I won't hotlink.

Crap.. sorry bout that. Link worked fine when I first posted it.. :(

I'll just try again with the actual website that has the cover I was talking about:

The one on the right is the one that reminds me of an Asylum-DVD.

The one on the left (same as the one you posted) is kinda classic I think and still way better than my DVD-box cover.. which is this:

Possibly even worse than the Asylum-looking one.. :)

Which begs the question: Why so many different posters, when there are two classic motives out there that are both way better?

*shrug*

I think that the poster on your DVD, the Disney one, was one of several original posters overseas. There was another cool one from the UK, that wasn't used in the US, see below. But I do agree, the posters used in the IS promotion were more classic.

This is the US teaser poster, it's pretty good to.
