I've searched the forum for this topic, but didn't find it. Just wondering why the captain wrote his memos in English.
They all are (or seem to be) speaking German.

This sentence has nothing to do with what I just have written above.

a lot of germans can read and write english

A version exists where writings - so as the U-Boot logs - are in English. That's rather disturbing if the Audio Track is in German.
And the subtitles i Arabic 😀
