What does her cabana concubine ask Matty?

The second to last line.
Couldn't hear.
Thanks!

Don't know, but she looked annoyed.

reply

Maybe....

Him:
“Here is your cocktail.”
Her:
“Ugh. That’s not what I meant.”

I downloaded some script online, and he says "It's hot" in Spanish (Hace calor).

However, that's not what he said in the film; I listened for it, and it's not. It may be "It's hot" in some other foreign language.

Think cynical thoughts.

reply

He said, translated from Tahitian (They're in Bora Bora), "Your pussy is hot". That's because his dick was scorched from banging her impossible to satisfy V-spot, hence the title, Body Heat.

reply

In advance I thought it might be "Hace Calor" (pronounced: Ah-say, Ca-lore) which means It is hot. But it definitely wasn't Hace Calor.

reply

I always thought that he just said (in English) "It's hot today". Maybe not, but that is what I thought. And partly because the Florida heat was a constant reference by everyone throughout the movie. So, in the final scene...there she is...once again,...with all her money,...bored,...and still sitting in the heat.

Never knew you to be so raunchy.

Hello, Zurichpoet! Thanks for asking that question, because I couldn't make it out either. I'm not sure we really have a definitive answer, but I guess the point is she skipped the states.

What did you think of the film score? Love that jazzy John Barry! It was almost Dixieland at times.

reply

Good times Warped!
I spotted you on the Sam Cooke board.
They played that on Nevis TV tonight. I didn't know it was rare. Soul tonic: Sam's voice.

reply

Sam was the man indeed! I'm glad you were able to see the documentary, because Allen Klein (and now his estate) were trying to keep it out of the public eye for years. That's why many of the people interviewed for it (James Brown, Billy Preston, Lou Rawls, Jerry Wexler) are dead. What exactly is Nevis TV? I visited the site, and I still can't tell.

So did you finally see Robert Cray? Was he awesome?

reply

I'm in Nevis. I'm with you on Sam Was The Man and the doco was great: because like you said, James Brown, Billy Preston, Lou Rawls, Jerry Wexler filled in the gaps. and were the base of the commentary. It was as good as this "bio-pic" ( to me ):

You live on Nevis? I thought you were in SoCal. Wherever you are: It's all good. We're on the Internet anyway.

I need to see "Straight: No Chaser" again; I saw that in the theater when it was released. Did you ever see "Standing in the Shadows of Motown," about the Funk Brothers? I think I'll put that in now. I'm feeling soulful this evening.

Saw it again on cable last night. He says it's hot, I'm pretty sure in Portuguese--"esta muito quente." His accent sounded Brazilian to me.

reply

Whatever he said it was not in English, when he repeats it he said "it is hot today".
