If Matty had to do it all over again.....(spoilers)

Do you think she'd do it,or maybe let Ned in on the action?

You know what I mean!! She could've been with him on the island, not rotting in prison!

There is not one reference at all as to him being in on any of it. She would do it the exact same way. She had this all planned long before she even married Edmund. This movie had so many great suttle lines in it like in the restaurant where he says how one can "do what is necessary." She was the best. This movie although may have had some slow or confusing parts had a spectacular ending....Remember the title here spoilers.....spoilers coming..

I mean - how often in a movie to you see them "get away with it." They're supposed to get caught and that's what made the ending so unique and spectacular. You're waiting for more...where's the cops. No...she got away with it. Classic and original...sometimes (but not often) in real life, people do.

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but I think during the scene at the restaurant between Racine and Matty's husband, her husband says something about her having been with another rotten lawyer, or something to that effect. My interpetration is that she's been trying to find a conspirator for awhile.

To further explain, I was responding to the OP's question of whether Matty might have done things differently to end up happily with Racine in the end. As someone previously said, she was just using him and I think the proof is that she'd tried to kill her husband before but using someone else; another rotten lawyer. She just happened to strike gold with Racine because she'd done her homework and discovered he was already proven to be dishonest (the Gorson case), and also none too bright.

In answer to all these quetions....absolutely not! she had already proven to be a selfish, greedy, cold harded B***h and was incapible of having it any other way!! but it was and still is a great movie!
