Anyone else fooled?

I was really hoping they would both get away with it, but then the problem with glasses and his hotel room being called numerous times was weird. For some reason, I guess I never suspected her until it was too late. I actually thought he purposely botched the will so she would get all the money.

I really suspended any preconceptions or predictions for this movie and it really surprised me. Awesome movie that made me think.

Now I just feel like a moron.

Weird how she strapped him while initially playing hard to get.

Yeah, I was hoping it was an off-screen stroke of genius where they botched the will on purpose to get her all the money. Then I saw his surprise...

I was really hoping they'd get away with it, for Ned's sake. The guy seemed desperate for love.

as soon as the murder was mentioned i thought Ned shouldve bought a tape recorder, taped a conversation of their plans, then kept it just incase she tries anything!

he even couldve done this later in the film when he started getting suspicious of her but her never did :(

reply

Who would keep tapes proving you were part of the murder?? That's the best way to get caught!!! Don't leave any loose ends and certainly not tapes explaining how you did it with your accomplice!
The only situation were u tape a conversation is when u wanna trap someone and you are INNOCENT.
What you wanna do with the tapes anyway? I mean if u give it to the police to send her to the can, you'll share the cell with her so what's the point?

to have something you can use against the person incase they backstab you

Why would you want them to get away with it? They were cold blooded killers!

Because them getting caught is too typical. It was a fantastic movie. I just felt bad for Ned, and thought if he was going down, that tart should have as well.

And it's mentioned that her husband is a pretty bad guy, so I didn't feel bad for him. Her high school classmate however...

Oh yeah really? U don't identify yourself with the main protagonists? Me always even if they are the worst motherfvckers ever. The process of identification works with anybody for me, as soon the movie speaks from one person's point of view i support this person no matter who or what he did.
It's like Dexter, he's a cold blooded serial killer, yet i feel and stress for him, don't want him to get caught and stuff... no?
That's why here i also wanted them to flee together and live happily ever after! lol!
Till i see the b!tch's angle, then i think she deserves to fry on the chair! grrrr

I like the fact that Kasdan keeps us guessing till the very end. The scene where Matty agress to go down to the boathouse, ostensibly to placate Ned, and turns for the last time & says, "Remember, I love you," seemed to be building to a twist ending -- that Matty didn't do it, that Ned & everyone were wrong.

Like so many, I love this movie. Great script, fine direction, and superlative performances from its gorgeous stars.

''and superlative performances from its gorgeous stars.''

what gorgeous stars?apart from turner and mickey rourke none of the rest of them were exactly 'gorgeous'

William Hurt is not that hot but I think he was in this film with darker hair, moustach and tan.

I remember being shocked the first time I saw it, when he's in jail and figures it out.

It was oblivious from the moment they planned to her husband that it would not work out in their favor, as it is in typical noir. Though I was not expected the twist of her identity which made her even more of a deceitful femme fatale.
