1) Why did she and the Kathleen Turner character trade identities?
2) What was she getting out of being apart of the scheme?
- Did she do it simply thinking she would get a cut of the money for letting "Matty" use her identity?

Kathleen Turner may have "borrowed" her friend's identity in return for a payoff - the friend not realizing (or not protecting against) the liklihood that Kathleen would then kill her. More likely is that Kathleen Turner stole her friend's identity, the friend found out about it and demanded payoffs to keep quiet, and again the friend was not sufficiently cautious about the liklihood that Kathleen Turner would kill her.

springwater, I don't think Mary Ann knew anything, she was an innocent victim. She and Matty (KT) had been friends for years and she was just paying a visit on an old friend. I think Matty probably had her do it as a game or something. Probably "helping" her friend disguise she was cheating on her husband. ("Hey, remember when we were kids? Let's do that when you come to visit me! I'm cheating on my husband so people will think he's having an affair with you! Won't that be fun?")

Rudykawa, I'll bet that's right. My cable's out till Monday so I'm trying to catch up on some favorites that I havent' seen for a while. Glad to say DVD player working. Anyway, my copy (tape) was old, and when I went to play it, wouldn't go past couple of minutes. I bought the DVD today and going to watch it in a few minutes. I do remember that part now. Thanks!
shareWhen Ned met the friend, Mattie came out and handed an envelope to the friend. She was obviously giving her money. So I'm not sure if the friend knew why Mattie was using her identify or not, but she did know about it and was being paid allowing it.
