could this movie be remade in today's PC world
given the subject matter, keeping the kids the same age, any thoughts???????
sharegiven the subject matter, keeping the kids the same age, any thoughts???????
shareI don't see why not. The critics might not like it, but since when do they count for anything?
shareTrue True
shareThere was a movie similar to this recently called ‘The Children’ I think. At least one of the kids was killed in that so I’m sure Bloody Birthday could be made today.
If you want to have mainstream appeal however (and do something a little different) I’d make it with young teenagers. And I don’t mean Glee/ 90210 teenagers - real 15 – 16 year olds.
Teenagers going crazy and killing people isn't something new though, and not much of a shocker. Back in the 70s the Exorcist scared the hell out of people, today if a kid was like that, the joke is that's nothing new from what they do already.
shareI was thinking the same thing! This would be one big post-Columbine analogy and wouldn't be as wild.
shareThe scene that wouldn't be remade is the one with the kids watching the older sister get naked. Kids killing would squeak by but not kids leering.
shareIt could, they did it in Disturbia, though that was just GGW ads on TV, but still...
shareI'm not sure the scene itself would be a problem, but Timmy's sister laughing about it afterwards in a "boys will be boys" manner would definitly not fly today.
shareTis film doesn't need a remake; it's fine the way it is.
I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!
I dont see why not. There was 'Orphan', which in a way is similar. This doesnt need a remake though.
shareAgreed. People tend to exaggerate. Movies like "Orphan" and "Kick-Ass" are in some ways worse.
shareKids don't really go outside to play much anymore, so a remake would probably be about kids prowling around on the Internet doing things they aren't supposed to and who wants to watch that? I don't really think this movie needs a remake. I think it's fine the way it is. I haven't seen Kick-Ass, but I hear the little girl in that movie has a VERY filthy mouth. I have seen Orphan, though, and even though Esther isn't technically a child, the actress who played her is so I'm very surprised the scene where she tries to seduce the father was allowed. I think it's a lot worse than anything in this movie.
Burn, witch! Burn, witch! Burn! Burn! Burn!
A remake of this would suck. Then again I'm totally biased against remakes. Every one I have seen ruined the original. If this was remade it would either shoot for the dreaded PG-13 rating and be total garbage or be rated R and throw in more gore because that's what seems to count for horror nowadays. Whatever happened to good old fashioned suspense?
Long live the 70's!
You obviously haven't seen "Battle Royale".
I'm shocked no one else here has mentioned that movie.
