Daniel J. Travanti and others peaking.
I watched Hill Street Blues back in the day, and now I watch the reruns twice a day. I've always wondered why many of the stars on this program never went on to other roles nearly as good. The primary one was Travanti who seemed to peak in this role. He was the only one on this show that was not replaceable. Yet after the show ended he didn't do anything memorable that I can find in television and film. When I became a manager at work I tried to model my skills after his - to no avail. He just seemed to handle everything so humanly well. I loved the relationship between the Pizza man, and Counselor Davenport - especially how risque it was for 1980's prime time television.
Others for I thought the can't miss list I think should have at least included Mike Warren, Taurean Blacque, and Joe Spano.
