Orginal Production used Truck.

Firstly, I know next to nothing about the production of this series, since I had yet to be born when it aired but I had a few questions regarding a vehicle I came to acquire that was used during the production of the series. My father has worked (and still does) as a producer for many television and film projects. About 10-15 years ago, he erected a large garage behind our house in Newport Beach (My Mom threw a fit over that one)where he began a collection of several production used vehicles.

I am currently a Student at UC Irvine taking summer classes, and I was on my way back to the house when I got caught in one of those all the sudden traffic jams on the PCH that come up on you like a bad case of herpes. I was looking at my console for a new CD and I rear ended this guy in a big suburban with my eclipse. After the cops came and I got the insurance adjusters over to the house to Total out the eclipse, I was stuck riding with my little sister to class every day.

This being the second car that I had totaled, my parents were not exactly ecstatic about the prospect of buying me another, but since my dad was preparing to travel to Europe to begin work on a new project, and both of my parents were growing tired of me asking to borrow their cars, they came up with a compromise.

My dad signed over a the title of a 1982 2 tone *beep* brown and tan GMC 4x4 with a lift kit and a roll bar in the back that looked like a modern day version of what Fred Flinstone might drive. To make matters worse, it also had a huge chrome grill on it with a tow wench. The interior was equally as gross looking with all brown interior with overly elaborate gauges and instrument panels. The only radio was an old school two knob analog job. The icing on the cake was the huge and elaborate eagle paint decal on the hood which reads "Fall Guy Stuntman Association". I was told it was used in some old show from the early 80's.

I was, of course, initially extremely pissed off. My little sister just got a new car, and I get to be seen driving around it the Hick Mobile from hell! Still, after a few days the prospect of between that and nothing, I caved in and just felt that between that, walking, or bumming rides from my friends, it was better than nothing.

I will say this for it, It certainly has plenty of balls under the hood, and is actually pretty fun to drive. It only has a tad over 11,000 miles on it. The gas mileage is of course *beep* especially when you have trouble keeping your foot out of it like I do. Also, it makes an annoying humming noise when you are over around 60 MPH or so because of the huge tires. While fun to drive, I did not want many people on campus seeing me roll around in the beast either. I began leaving for class really early so I could get parked and on campus prior to the rest of the students.

The remarkable turn came two nights ago when I drove up to Family Fun Center on Sepulveda off the 110 , to hang out with some buddies. I parked towards the back of the parking lot. I hung out with my buddies till around 10:30 or so and head back to the truck.

I climb up into it and get ready to fire it up when some late 30's early 40's guy flags for my attention. I roll down the window (no power windows, so I do mean roll) and he asks me where I got the truck all excited. I jump out and tell the guy the story of how I came to drive it, when he tells me all about the 1980's show "The Fall Guy". Basically, he goes on and on about how it used to be his fav. show and "Blah, Blah, Blah". He is with his 2 kids and Wife, but begs for me to let him have his picture taken in it. I was in no hurry to get home, so I said sure. He then gets into the bed with his arms on the roll bar, for another shot. He then wants his picture taken with the hood decal. I was beginning to get annoyed by this point. Maybe I should ask him if he needs a wardrobe change too? Perhaps some set designers and a makeup artist? This has already attracted enough attention and a few more people with similar stories come over wanting pictures too. I am normally a pretty nice guy, but I was getting my fill, and made an excuse that I really had to go. The original guy gives me his business card (some architecture firm in Santa Monica) and says if I ever want to sell it he would certainly be interested.

As I drove back towards home, I was thinking to myself how any major production would use such a rustic looking vehicle as prop car for a star.

That brought me back home to the internet for a little research, and to here. Life is not without its little bit of irony I guess. Since you guys obviously follow the old series and the actor, what do you think I could get out of it if I were to sell it?

People should spend more time watching movies and less time bitching about IMDB spoilers.
