Colt- Either Ben Browder (who is known for his role of John Crichton from "Farscape", who also played Lee Majors in "Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Charlie's Angels" and from what I heard, he had gotten Lee's mannerism down to the key), Robert Patrick (he looks as if he could play a stuntman/bounty hunter type) or Viggo Mortensen. Howie- Either Sam Rockwell or Scott Speedman Jodie- Uma Thurman, Sophia Myles, Angelina Jolie, Denise Richards or Charlize Theron
Has this world become so terribly unoriginal that everyone looks forward to a remake that steals the spotlight from an original? Shall we just remake everything that has previously been done? Very sad.
"What we're dealing w/here is a complete lack of respect for the law"
I totally understand/appreciate your excitement, but remakes are becoming sickeningly overrated & trendy. Remakes also take the spotlight from really original & great pieces of work/imagination.
"It's a Dog-Eat-Dog world & from where I sit, there just ain't enough damn dogs!"
Late reply but, they don't take anything from the original. They bring something to the forefront and expose it to a new generation. There are lots of people under thirty who got interested in the original Dukes of Hazzard, Bewitched, Starsky and Hutch, or A-Team because of the movies.
I agree with dcfixx. We don't need any more remakes or re-imaginings of classic television programmes cashing in on the names while trashing our memories. We don't need the ones we have.
Even more, what we need is originality in the current television & movie industry, instead of all these idiotic execs throwing resources at unnecessary and insulting remakes.
Hollywood's all out of ideas. I remember just a few years ago the big thing was making a TV Series out of a Successful Movie (as much as you want to suppress it you KNOW you remember Ferris Bueller's Day Off the TV SERIES). I can see it now, a remake of a TV Series that was a remake of a Movie.....What has happened Hollywood? Oh how the mighty has fallen!
The way I feel about a remake of The Fall Guy is they will not capture the chemistry or how the show was originally done. If I was a writer, director, or producer in Hollywood what I would do to actually write a movie version of it is sit down or have my writers sit down and watch several seasons of the show. Then I would have actors come in to try for the roles of the movie. The ones that I feel fit the role then say "Ok You are going to play Colt, You are going to play Howie, and you will play Jodie!" "Now study the TV show to learn how they carried themselves to get into character!" The problem is from what I have noticed about remakes of classic TV shows I do not think these directors, writers, producers and other people take the time to really try to capture what the show is really about and that is what really makes me mad or not interested in the movie at all. I can name as an example and more than likely I am going to make some people mad but I do not care for the new Battle Star Galactica! I am sorry to say it but Starbuck was not a woman in the original show nor was Boomer either! That was this directors way to screw up everything! Now there is no way to do a remake of Battlestar Galactica at all because the director of the current show screwed it all up! I would also take notes as to get the formula done correctly or like what Stephen Cannell is going to do is recreate the A-Team. I am not sure how good of a movie that will be because it will not have the original actors but I am pretty sure he is going to take the ideas he had to make the original show work. He may change a few things or come up with different ideas but we have to wait and see when the movie comes out. Let me know what you think everyone!

I agree...no remake!!! I don't want to see some douchebag like George Clooney playing Colt Seavers. Also, you are correct about the new "Galactica" or whatever you want to call it being crap.
There should not be any remake of The Fall Guy at all because The A-TEAM is already ruined now because Stephen J. Cannell has already decided to remake The A-TEAM but what they are going to do is make it current with the events that are going on now. I am not too happy about that at all. Just think about what they are going to do to The Fall Guy when someone who claims they were fans of the show and puts in his ideas for the show. It is going to be totally ruined and not respected at all.
Now I know this has nothing to do with The Fall Guy but Get Smart I feel was done very well even though I did miss the original actors from the classic TV show. It was done in a tactful way but with todays events. I would love to see that done for The Fall Guy. That is the only way that I would watch the movie is if it is properly done correctly. Do not add what you think may spicen up the movie. Follow the recipe of the TV show and if you want to redo it ask Glen Larson to write the movie out with Lee Majors as the co-writer for the movie.
That is the only way that it will work. That is what I think. Do you think that would work filmsRreel? I hope you like my thoughts of Glen Larson and Lee Majors writing the movie script. I think they would both capture what The Fall Guy is really all about.
For the fans who post these threads, it's not about being unoriginal, it's about wanting to revisit an old show we used to love.
One problem, though, is that the memory tends to wear rose-colored glasses. If you go back and watch your old favorite shows, very few of them tend to be as good as you remember them being.
The real problem is the paradox of the situation, though. People want to revisit these old shows, but then when one IS revisited, they scream blue murder about "trampling all over their childhoods".
I honestly think the only reason Michael Bay got away with so much with the Transformers movies is that he got Peter Cullen to come back as the voice of Optimus. People still complain about their aching childhoods, but not as much as they would if Optimus Prime didn't have the right voice.
---------------------------------------- If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?
I suspect the reason that George Clooney's name gets bandied about so much whenever these discussions arise is because, quite frankly, he's about the only old-time-movie-star calibre leading man working in Hollywood right now. Simply put, he's a leading man, as opposed to the leading boys who populate most pictures being cranked out these days. Christ, even Brad Pitt, for all of his enormous popularity and appeal to the ladies, still looks like he's collegiate age. Unlike the endless stream of frat-house pretty boys currently littering up the screens, Clooney
A) Has real charisma B) Has a deft touch for light comedy C) Has a convincing physical presence, as opposed to some contrived boy-bander's faux-badass shtick D) Actually seems like he's old enough to vote, let alone play a cop, doctor, astronaut, etc. (insert standard movie character's profession of your choice)
George Clooney, in other words, has become (much to my amazement, frankly) the ONLY choice worth considering if you have a script requiring a leading man, as opposed to a leading boy. Here's a simple test: think of a properly rugged leading man from the 40s and 50s. William Holden, for example, or Robert Mitchum. Now picture the likes of Affleck, Damon, Pitt, Farrell, etc. trying to carry off one of their roles. Remember how you looked in the mirror when you dressed up in your parents clothes as a kid? Seems kind of like that, doesn't it? Now picture Clooney doing it. Suddenly seems a lot more likely, doesn't it? George Clooney has a boyish charm, but there isn't anything remotely boyish about how he carries himself. Which, come to think of it, summarizes pretty much every great leading man the cinema has ever had...
Whenever someone suggests remaking a TV show I loved fondly as kid, I start betraying my age by getting moody and irritable, talking about how "back in the day" it was so very much better than it is now, how these faceless hacks couldn't possibly capture the nuance and subtlety of a RIPTIDE, or a HARDCASTLE AND MCCORMICK, or an A-TEAM. And yet, when George Clooney once talked about how much he'd love to play either Hannibal Smith from THE A-TEAM or Thomas Magnum from MAGNUM P.I., I sort of nodded my head, slowly, thinking, "Hmmm. Damn. That just might work". And it might. As long as the *beep* who did CHARLIE'S ANGELS or STARSKY AND HUTCH don't turn it into a campy kitschfest.
But THE FALL GUY seems like a better bet than any of them for a feature. Because of those shows depended on the unique chemistry of their casts for their success. The IDEA at the centre of THE FALL GUY, however, is a really strong one, and could easily be used as the basis for any number of different treatments (straight action, action-comedy leaning more towards comedy OR action, action-comedy-mystery hybrid, etc.).
I can't believe I am actually championing the idea of remaking an 80s TV favourite, but someday, perhaps when the current crop of needless, utterly pointless remakes and "reimaginings" have subsided, I think THE FALL GUY would be an excellent place to start. Oh, yeah, and whatever Clooney is asking for, it's not enough, so shut up and pay him.

Please never mention Clooney and Robert Mitchum in the same paragraph again.
Now, since I can only assume everyone is cracking jokes, since Jessica Simpson, Aniston, Clooney, and all those other people you guys mention are horrifiying actors. I will add my own:
COLT SEVERS: ROB SCHNEIDER HOWIE: DAVID SPADE JODIE: ALESSANDRA AMBORSIO reply share
I like your casting choices and I would also suggest former WWE lady Stacy Keibler since you mentioned Trish Stratus. Stacy has the drop dead gorgeous looks not to mention her curvaceous figure with long gams. And she is a lot taller than original star Heather Thomas though that would not be a problem at all! Oh, I also like your other choice of Jessica Biel as well.
The guy I recommended to play cousin Howie is "Seann William Scott". He plays Stiffler in the "American Pie" movies. As for the bail bondswoman (believe she was played by Markie Post in the TV series), how about Teri Hatcher? I could envision her with that part. Obviously, not now due to her commitment and success with "Desperate Housewives". Let me reconsider then who would do Jody. I can't really think of anyone. I guess Aniston is a little too old (almost 38). Heather Thomas was only 25 or 26 when she was on "The Fall Guy" series in the early 80's. Help me out then with a suggestion "filmsRreel".
I like the people you selected to play as the main characters but it would never be the same though as the original unless Lee Majors stars as the father you know. You know how it goes they never really have the original actors star in the remake and if they do they just give them some very small part in the movie with a few lines. So I still do not feel there should be a remake unless someone out there in Hollywood can capture the chemistry like the orginal television show.
I was thinking that Tony Scott would do a good job as director. It may be darker than we remember but it could still work. How do you guys feel about this?
My fear is that if they make a remake then it may not turn out like the original had. I mean the original show had chemistry with all of the original actors you know. That is how I feel about it. If it is done properly then I would not complain at all about it but that is a big IF though.
