.. all I remember is that there was this ghostly hooded figure who was terrorising a house or somethin? sort of like a ghostly monk. was v scary at the time, although admittedly I was probably 8 at the time... Was it possibly the Xmas special 1986?
Also an episode where a woman gets murdered in a tent right at the start. Any fans that can help me out, much appreciated!
The first episode you mention was Fires in the Fall, and was indeed the Xmas special for 1986 although it is officially included as the last episode in Series 4 and is included in the upcomimg DVD of that series.
The 2nd episode is Holiday Snaps, from Series 3, and is set in France and Jersey.
As soon as I saw the heading for this thread, I knew which episode it would be.
I remember Fires In The Fall, very, very clearly.
A black-cloaked ghost appeared to people just before their death. Someone was trapped inside a burning car.
Absolutely bloody terrifying. It gave me nightmares when I was a nipper.
UK Drama repeated it recently, but I missed it. I am not pleased about this, and now check my Skyplanner regularly to make sure it doesn't sneak past me again.
I bought Series 4 on DVD in Meadowhall, Sheffield on Wednesday and 'Fires in the Fall' IS quite terrifying....the ending however is somewhat hackneyed and predictably unoriginal...'the son never left the sanitorium' etc
However the scene where Louise Jameson illuminates the ghostly shape in the shadowy attic, is enough to give even the sternest skeptic sleepless nights!
EDIT: 'Fires in the Fall' was repeated on British television last Sunday, but some unfortunate censoring/effect cutting was in evidence (The scene with the medium being burnt behind the wheel of his automobile, was somewhat sanitised to say the least), so I REALLY recommend the DVD
I have recorded it but not yet seen it. I knew it would be censored, as Bewrgerac has obviously been cut a couple of times on its UK Drama reruns. The scene with the car fire is the one I remember most clearly! Maybe I'll save pennies and buy the DVD, just for this one episode ...
