Can anyone tell me what happened in the final episode of Bergerac?

Bergerac transformed into DCI Tom Barnaby from Midsomer Murders. Pretty cool scene, actually.

Actually, in a sense, the very last appearance of the character Jim Bergerac of which I'm aware was here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0558934/
- Episode 5, Series 1 of The Detectives, 1993, where Carrott and Powell go to Jersey.
