I can only speak of the two versions I have seen.

The one I taped off an American TV station in 1994 omits a scene around 4 minutes long. I'm not sure if the TV station omitted it, or whether it simply was the version they had. The omitted/cut scene is one just before the scout leader finds the hunter's (and son's) motorhome. It just shows him singing and marching the scouts along the riverbank and giving them a short talk. He then assigns the scouts to find a rock or branch to bring home to their mom and dad.

The other version, which is a Black Widow DVD from http://www.monstersinmotion.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=4640
is what I think is the complete version.

It has the scene I described above and also the scene where the teens arrive at the gas station before going to the lake. It's an important scene, in which they meet the Jack Palance character (Joe Taylor) but I have heard of a foreign subtitled version (possibly Japanese or Finnish) where this scene is strangely omitted.

When I saw this in the theatre in 1980, it was missing the "teens at the gas station" scene. Saw it later on cable and was surprised to see that sequence for the first time. It seems to have gone through a couple of incarnations (and at least three titles.) Like a little tinkering was going to make it into a masterpiece.

Yeh "The Warning" is the British title.

the gas station scene was omitted for the laserdisc release. that is the original tape Luminous Wurks was sending out. I have since obtained another dvd copy and it has a much cleaner print and the missing gas station scene

The soon-to-be-defunct Monsters HD airs the 96 minute cut, which includes the scenes omitted from other releases. MGM has this now, so if they ever get around to releasing it on DVD, this is obviously the cut you will get.
