Lake filming location?
Anyone know the name of the lake the 4 kids went swimming in? Looks like the structure of a dam in the background. Assuming this was part of the Malibu Creek Park filming location, could it be Century Lake?
shareYes, you are correct. It was filmed there in December 1979. Here is Century Lake at Malibu Creek State Park and you can see the same dam structure as in the movie:

Say, would you happen to know if this is the same location in which Butch and Sundance (1968) landed in the "river" after they jumped off the tall cliff? I have heard that the landing was filmed in a lake in Malibu Creek Park, but never knew if Century Resv. or Malibu Lake was used.

With regards to the picture whose board we are on, the lake swimming scene was done on the first day of filming: November 29, 1979. It was the very first scene they shot. Ironically, the very first scene as we the audience see it would not be shot until the last day of filming: February 11, 1980. And since the film was copyrighted in 1979 and has a 1979 copyright date on it, I suppose said scene with Cameron Mitchell and Darby Hinton technically was never even copyrighted at all. So, feel free to steal it. share
