Song Question

Does anyone have any idea the name/artist of the song that is playing during the whole disco/stripper scene on the car lot? I cannot really make out any lyrics to it, and I cannot find anything when I do a soundtrack search on the movie. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's a disco version of the David Rose tune "The Stripper," which was a Number One hit in the early '60s....no lyrics. It was an instrumental.
You can hear a bit of the original in The Full Monty, in the scene where the guys practice their "moves."

Well I gotta go now Duane.....I'm due back on the planet Earth

Thank you so, so, so much. You have no idea how much I appreciate this.

The disco version seems to be impossible to find. The original David Rose version was quite popular and very well-known. The reason I liked it is because the recording is superior; one of the clearest, most dynamic (high fidelity) recordings of a genuine jazz big-band orchestra with great horns, a smooth, soaring string-section, and heavy, pounding drums that thunder right along through it.

David Rose also did the music for Bonanza.

The instrumental piece you speak of is called Disco Stripper (3:02), arranged by Patrick Williams, who was responsible for much of the music in the film. The piece is based on an original composition recorded in 1958 called The Stripper, by David Rose. The entire Used Cars soundtrack is currently available on a CD.

On a side note, The Billy May Orchestra did a version of The Stripper in the late 60's/early 70's that sounds very similar to what was in the film only the tempo is a little slower.
