It is rumored that Universal Music is considering releasing the Times Square soundtrack on CD for the October anniversary. It's a very light rumor that I read about on another board. It would make sense seeing as how the movie and the soundtrack are 25 years old in October. I surely hope that it's true, I would love to see this soundtrack on CD! The Sleaze Sisters rule!

Where have you read this rumor? I've seen it on a Yahoo group but this is the only other reference I've seen. I've written to Universal and asked, but haven't heard back yet... CDs turn up for sale on EBay now and then that look real, but not 100% real, knowhutImean? Anyway the record is also always for sale on eBay and the listings often contain complete track listings.
If there is a 25th anniversary release, I would hope they'd restore 'Dangerous Type' by The Cars, a fantastic track that was left off the album for some reason. If they're going to renegotiate the rights to the rest of it, and I can't imagine they wouldn't have to - some of those songs (Gary Numan's 'Down in the Park,' Joe Jackson's 'Pretty Boys,' Garland Jeffrey's 'Innocent, Not Guilty') are different vesions that have never appeared anywhere else as far as I know - they may as well get the rights to add it as a bonus track.

"Down In The Park," as featured in the movie, is an early demo, and not the album/single version from the Replicas album. I don't know if this version has been released elsewhere. Still, the film goofed by crediting the song as being performed by Gary Numan and not Tubeway Army (Numan technically wasn't a solo artist when he did "Down In The Park").
