the film teacher who introduced me to this film noted my love of the soundtrack and burned a cd for me... i'd definitely burn and send a copy, however i'm currently away at school and the soundtrack is about 350 miles away at my parent's house. still interested? remind me towards the end of march.

Great movie and an excellent soundtrack. Unfortunately, the official release is still missing a bunch of instrumentals from the movie, which is a shame. As for the tracks from the LP and the Intrada release, they are out of play order. Here is the correct sequence:

01) Main Titles
02) The Chase
03) Bits & Pieces
04) Crane
05) Training
06) Main Theme
07) Bedroom Horns
08) Southern Belle
09) Film Caravan
10) End Credits

"Wherever You Go, There You Are." - Buckaroo Banzai

It's definitely a crime that this wonderful soundtrack is not available on a professional high quality CD. I think it's one of the greatest fil scores ever.

You can find this soundtrack, you just have to go on a "Soul Seek" ;)

You're in luck...Intrada has just released the score on CD (limited to 3000). Here's the link: http://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.5767/.f?category=-101

Does anyone know where the music in the film has been used before?

I'm watching this for the first time and I swear I've heard the main music themes of this movie somewhere.

Anyone?

reply

I know it was used for the trailer to "The War of the Roses"

reply

If you lived anywhere near Philadelphia, Channel 6 used to use the music for the promo to their "Million Dollar Movie."

Such a cool score. It wouldn't surprise me if it was used like this on other tv stations.

reply

It's a bit strange to think that the composer of this film score, Dominic Frontiere, was the original composer of the music for the classic TV shows "The Outer Limits" and "The Invaders". The one spot in the movie where you can catch the influence in the score is during the scene of the mutilated bodies on the beach.

reply

There's also the theme for the funny antique with the bear and girl. It's the same theme he used for the music box in the Outer Limits episode The Form of Things Unknown. It was great hearing it again.

SinemaGirl , Thanks for the link, that brought back memories. I started watching the movie last night/early morning.and I remembered the theme music. But I couldn't figure out what station had that theme.I originally thought it was channel 10's late movie theme, but I just saw your post and link, and corrected that thought.
BTW,Does any one know if that's Dusty Springfield singing on the intro song?
