shareI can't remember much about the book (which should tell you a bit about its quality), but I do recall that Cameron is on the run because he was drafted and escaped when the bus he was being taken to boot camp in broke down. (The war in Vietnam is still going on and referred to quite a bit.) I vaguely remember a scene that takes place in a tollbooth. Also, the film they are making is not a war film but a fugitive film. And there's a subplot about porno movies. This is definitely a case of the film being better than the book. If I think of anything else, I'll come back and add it.
shareThe book and mlovie really have little in common except the central concept.
The book ends with Cameron on the run, the cops closing in on all sides, and Eli rescues him in the unit's helicopter.
It's really only interesting if you're a fanatic about this movie.
