Criterion Edition Rumoured

I hope they record a commentary track, both with David Cronenberg, plus an additional commentary with actors or crew.

In addition I hope they make a comprehensive documentary. Documenting the lineage and history of the film and it's influence on media.

YES! i can't wait, Criterion is fantastic as much as Snypases and Shout Factory are

You killed Captain Clown, YOU KILLED CAPTAIN CLOWN-The Joker on Batman TAS

This would be excellent. I've just seen a new special edition on blu-ray steelbook (not sure if it will also be on dvd). Lots of new extras but no Cronenberg input from what I can see, so am not quite as bothered if there is no dvd. I'm sure if criterion release it they will do both.

Also, had a quick look on amazon.com and couldn't find this, only UK.

Basically, there should be a Criterion collection of all of Cronenberg's films (With Nightbreed thrown in) because here is a director with a steady vision. Outside of David Lynch, I cannot think of another who seems compelled to explore the inner/outer reaches of philosophy in such a consistent way.

Can't wait. It'll go right next to my Naked Lunch and Videodrome criterion collections.

Straightedge means I'm better than you.

Funny thing is, Scanners is shown on iTunes as part of The Criterion Collection (as well as The Brood), complete with a quickly thrown together cover showing Cameron's glowing eyes in the finale. There are some more "mainstream" films being released by Criterion early next year, including It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and Fantastic Mr. Fox, so hopefully Scanners will finally make it out.
