David Cronenberg cameo in Scanners?

Was David Cronenberg the desk attendant at the Hotel that Cameron Vale went to? His back was turned and that character is not credited anywhere... it certainly LOOKED like a young David Cronenberg.....

The new blu-ray includes a talk show segment with Cronenberg from 1981. After watching that and then watching the hotel clerk scene, it's very obvious it's not Cronenberg.
