Blooper from American released poster

Did anyone notice an error for the American poster for "Raise the Titanic?" In the movie the ship has the second smoke stack removed as per it breaking off during the sinking. However on the movie poster while viewing the ship raising out of the water you can see the second smoke stack still attached. Someone did a poor job in QC during the printing and release. Ha-ha.

The entire film was a blooper...

It may have been intentional, the four smoke stacks are very iconic for the Titanic image, so maybe people would recognize it better?

"Raise the Titanic. Raise the Titanic? That's not the Titanic, it only has three smoke stacks. The titanic had four."

Stupid I know, but just saying.

Wallace, you're actually right! I read that even though the book (accurately) depicted the wreck as having all four smokestacks missing, the filmmakers thought that it wouldn't have the impact or be as recognisable without them on film. As such, they decided to have the SECOND funnel cracked off because it would give a greater aesthetic of the public image of the ship (making it clear that this was the four funneled ship we would all recognise). It just goes to sohw how condescending Hollywood can be!

Thanx for all the input guys. By the way, if you go to YOUTUBE and type in Raise the Titanic, there are parts that were never released along with the film in which they show the ship sinking in the beginning. Enjoy.
