Things this stole from Rocky

1. Opening the film in some dirty, wild boxing venue, showing our protagonist in a brutal pugilistic display in which there's no sense of victory. Crowd throwing stuff, just as wild as whats happening in the ring.

2. The protagonist yelling out his window at his neighbors, as a means of communication.

3. Scene at home where wifey is trying to get some action, but protagonist must turn her down, so that he can stay tough for the fight

4. Over the shoulder boxing shots.

5. Coincidentals: Both guys are Italian. Both guys have organized crime connections.

How do you know these were stolen?

And most, if not all, of the script was written before rocky came out.

And lamottas memoir was written way before rocky.

And I don't think Scorsese was that big a fan of rocky.

I'm not saying they couldn't have been influenced, but I'm skeptical.

Not sure if any of these things are specific enough to be stolen, especially since Raging Bull was a true story that happened before Rocky was being made. I guess some of the shots could have been inspired, but I doubt it.

One was a real person, once was made up. You can't credit Rocky for the over the shoulder shot, you much as well say they stole medium shots or two-shots from Rocky lol every movie has them. The yelling out the window to the neighbor was improvised because someone actually yelled at them while filming.

reply

They both had very uncomfortable "date/sex" scenes
