Beth wanted kids??

I wonder why in the world she wanted kids--two boys??? I can't see she likes them to be messy when they are young and never mind when they are adults --get married and divorced with ex-wives screaming at her.

I can see why she is emotional dead with boys not giving her affection because she is a woman.She can't bond with them like her husband do.

It is interesting that Conrad is the sensitive one unlike boys I have had known. Timothy Hutton made it clear he was not like Conrad--very sensitive.

In new light of Timothy Hutton's rape charges, I perused vintage 1984 magazines detailed his views toward female fans. It was not flattering light. He was milking his father's death to make him sensitive and yet opening hostile to women worked very well in that movie. Tim also made funof his sensitive image in those magazines. I also think the rest of cast using real life feelings on family in movie like Mary's lack of children due to diabetes and related poorly to kids.
