40 blind kids and a mattress (need quote help_

I don't think the following quote is from "Ninth Configuration," but I figure that the learned folk who would traffic a message board for such a great flick might be able to help me out. I was listening to Sirius earlier today, the garage rock station specifically. Anyway, between songs they played a hilarious quote from some old movie. Something along the lines of "We filled the front lawn with mattresses and 40 blind kids came running out. They were stumbling everywhere. It made them feel good about themselves." It sounded like the speaker addressed someone as "Colonel" at the beginning of the quote. Any ideas what movie this could be from?

This is a shot in the dark but it sounds like something the Matt Dillon character might have said in "There's Something About Mary". He would make up ridiculous stories (pretending to have worked with disabled children) and tell them to a shocked Cameron Diaz, who actually DID work with disabled children/adults.

I'm almost positive that that quote is from the 1975 movie Shampoo. It's Jack Warden's character who saids it. If you haven't seen it I'd recommend you do.

"Well if it isn't fat stinking billy goat Billy Boy in poison!"

It is from Shampoo and it is Jack Warden's character "Lester."

From the screenplay:

"Senator, you should've seen those little kids! About forty of 'em, all blind. We put out these mattresses on the front lawn and they came running out of the house, tripping and falling all over the place, having a hell of a good time. I mean they were blind of course. But it really gave you a feeling of accomplishment. I tell you I never had such a good time."
