Opening scene question to those who have seen the film

Hey 9th config lovers. I need you guys to confirm for me, the opening shots of this film. My copy starts off with a shot of rain, then straight to a zoom of the castle. But when i read the script, there's a whole Vietnam sequence at the start. Is the Vietnam part in the movie? Have i got some crap copy?

You're referring to the scene where Lt. Reno rescues an old Vietnamese man, only to have the old man kill off most of his unit with a grenade?

If I remember correctly, the opening scenes of the script ( was never filmed due to lack of funds and insufficiently many Vietnamese "extras." So as far as I know, there isn't another version out there with this scene filmed.
