'Killer Kane' - origin of the name?

I wonder if William Peter Blatty ever watched the 1968 western, More Dead than Alive, starring Clint Walker and Vincent Price.

Clint Walker's character, a gunfighter who is released from prison after serving eighteen years for multiple murders, is named "Killer Cain."

Different spelling, but pronounced the same as Stacy Keach's character.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure why Blatty chose this name, but it came from the old Buck Rogers serial. He was a crime lord-type antagonist.

It's at least in part a reference to Cain in the Bible (who killed his brother Abel).
